Are you a strategic thinker and industry leader ready to shape the future of planning and infrastructure in the UK?We're working exclusively with a leading, award-winning consultancy at the forefront of sustainable place-making, who are seeking a Town Planning Director to join their growing team.

This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in the direction and delivery of major infrastructure and development projects across the UK. You'll be part of an established, multidisciplinary practice known for creating imaginative, inclusive, and deliverable solutions that respond to the challenges of climate change, growth, and community needs.

The Role

As Town Planning Director, you'll take a leadership role within a highly collaborative planning and design team. You'll lead and grow the infrastructure planning offer, overseeing complex and high-profile projects - from renewable energy and transport to regeneration and large-scale mixed-use developments.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic planning advice to clients, stakeholders, and partners

  • Leading planning inputs on DCO, NSIP, and major infrastructure projects

  • Managing and mentoring a talented team of planners and consultants

  • Driving business development and expanding the planning service offering

  • Representing the consultancy at public inquiries, stakeholder meetings, and industry events

About You

You're a chartered town planner (MRTPI) with significant experience at senior level, ideally within a consultancy or multidisciplinary environment. You combine strong technical expertise with commercial insight and a collaborative approach.

You'll bring:

  • Proven experience in leading planning for major infrastructure projects (e.g. energy, transport, utilities, regeneration)

  • Excellent client-facing and business development skills

  • A deep understanding of UK planning policy and the consenting process

  • Leadership capability - inspiring and developing teams to deliver excellence

  • Strategic vision and passion for creating better, more sustainable places
