Operations Analyst - Shipping and LogisticsAn excellent opportunity has arisen with a global supply chain organisation for an Operations Analyst experienced within shipping and logistics. Using their in house developed system you will be monitoring our day-to-day contract delivery position. You will get to work with thier trucks business obtaining exposure to our high-profile counterparties and gaining experience of co-ordinating with our clients and hauliers.
Role and Responsibilities: - To assist with the day-to-day execution of the contracts concluded by Front Desk
- Co-ordinating with Client Base, Hauliers, Surveyors/Inspection shipbrokers, ship owners and agents, and insurance company in fulfilment of contract
- Supporting with the preparation & maintenance of shipment files in both electronic and paper forms
- Participate in providing routing information and issuing shipping instructions to ensure deliveries arrive on time and to their correct location
- Supporting the tracking of goods en-route to their destination ensuring any problems that may arise are resolved to avoid delays
- Instructing / appointing cargo surveyors at loading and discharging port(s) when required
- Assist with negotiating / booking Haulage / freight with freight forwarders and container line representatives
- To take responsibility for your performance and to work together to achieve our organizational goals
- To attend training courses which are identified as being necessary for the performance of the role
- To be fully conversant with the Employee Handbook and supporting policies, including Health & Safety legislation and fire and emergency procedures
- To comply with any reasonable instruction issued by your manager
- Covering colleagues when they are on away from office
Essential Skills and Experience: - Business level fluency in English (both written and verbal)
- Advanced communication skills
- Strong I.T. skills including proficiency in Excel and Word
- Excellent analytical, organisation and time management skills
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
- Self-starter with the ability to use initiative for problem solving
- Resourceful, innovative, and proactive
- Personable with the ability to build relationships and communicate with all levels both internally and externally
