As an HGV Mechanic, you will report directly to the Fleet Manager and play a vital role in maintaining their fleet of HGV commercial vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance:

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGV lorries and trailers.
• Attend to emergency breakdowns and carry out necessary defect repairs.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT, conduct brake testing, and perform remedial repairs as required.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work.
• Collaborate with the fleet team to minimise vehicle downtime and enhance fleet management.
• Manage inventory of parts and materials, ensuring timely availability for repairs.

Health and Safety:

• Conduct risk assessments before commencing work on vehicles.
• Ensure compliance with method statements and health and safety regulations.

The Ideal Candidate :

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Maintenance & Repair or equivalent.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with commercial vehicles.
• A valid UK driving licence (Class 1 (C+E) licence is desirable), HGV & CPC licence
• Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and vehicle electrical systems, along with fault-finding expertise.
