3D Design Technician
- Annual Salary: £29,000 (Pro Rata)

- Job Type: Part-time (25 hours per week)
The school is a vibrant and co-educational independent school, seeking an enthusiastic and highly competent 3D Design Technician. This part-time role offers an exciting opportunity to support our dynamic Design and Technology department and contribute to providing students with a safe and effective 3D Design experience.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Prepare materials and resources as required by the subject teacher prior to lessons.
- Organise extra equipment for lessons as necessary.
- Ensure tools, machines, and equipment are kept in optimum condition, stored correctly, and carry out daily inspections.
- Empty and clean the dust extraction filters as required by the manufacturer.
- Assist departmental staff in developing appropriate resources for teaching and learning, such as manufacturing jigs, formers, and templates for project use.
- Provide support for the teacher during practical lessons, which may include overseeing small groups of pupils during practical activities.
- Maintain technician risk assessments for own work area and procedures, ensuring all safety signs for machinery are up to date.
- Organise materials in the department and use the school's purchase ordering system to order materials and resources.
- Liaise with the Head of Department and the Finance Department to monitor the department's budget and check orders have been logged accurately.
- Organise and catalogue books within the department.
- Assist teaching staff in promoting and raising the profile of 3D Design within and outside the school.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
- Proficiency in using CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Manufacture) tools and equipment, including a laser cutter and CNC router.
- Ability to prepare and manage classroom resources and equipment.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Commitment to contributing to the pastoral care and personal development of pupils.
