Job Requirements/Description

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you have experience in working with students who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? If so, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH, SEND, and additional learning needs
  • Assist with personal care tasks where required
  • Support with behaviour management strategies to promote positive learning environments
  • Help create tailored resources to meet the individual learning requirements of students
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure effective delivery of lessons and progress tracking
  • Encourage students to develop social and communication skills
  • Promote inclusion, well-being, and independence

Essential Criteria:

  • Previous experience working in a SEND setting, ideally with SEMH students
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies
  • Experience in providing personal care, if required
  • A compassionate, patient, and nurturing approach to working with children
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Desirable but not essential:

  • Relevant qualifications such as Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or SEN-specific courses
  • Team-Teach or similar behaviour management training
