Our School in Harmondsworth provides education for autistic children, supporting pupils in achieving the goal of leading a happy and full, independent adult life. We believe passionately that every child has the right to maximise their potential, irrespective of their starting point in life.
To provide one-to-one and small group support for children with Autism (ASD). This role is ideal for dedicated Teachers who are skilled in tailoring learning strategies to meet the needs of neurodiverse pupils.
About the role
An experienced and qualified teacher who has the ability to make a significant contribution to our school.
You will take a creative approach to teaching pupils according to their educational needs, ensuring delivery of the school curriculum in a way that maximises pupils achievement and ability to develop.
Within this role, you will teach pupils in a fun and engaging way. You will also work with the support staff within the classroom to ensure that each pupil is getting the support they require, but also to ensure the smooth running of sessions and allow each pupil to have a positive learning environment.
You will provide feedback to SLT, parents and carers.
Key Responsibilities
Provide personalized learning support for children with Autism.Use visual aids, PECS, Makaton, and structured teaching approaches to enhance learning.Implement EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) targets effectively.
Support social communication and emotional regulation. Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to create a supportive learning environment.
Use positive behavior strategies to promote engagement and independence.
Requirements
-Experience working with children with Autism (ASD) in an educational setting.
-Understanding of TEACCH, PECS, Makaton, or other communication strategies.
-Strong patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet individual needs.
-Ability to differentiate lessons and implement sensory-friendly strategies.
-Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
-Relevant qualifications (Qualified Teacher)
