1. The Role
- To provide effective engineering support through planned maintenance, breakdown response, and remedial works to site equipment and buildings, ensuring operational reliability and safety. We are seeking two suitably experienced engineers: one permanent day-shift engineer and one permanent night-shift engineer.
2. General Responsibilities
- Ensure company disciplines, rules, and standards are consistently maintained.
- Maintain company assets to achieve maximum operational efficiency and reliability.
- Communicate effectively with Production teams and engineering colleagues.
- Maintain awareness and control of spare parts required for site plant and equipment.
- Operate in accordance with company procedures and documented standards.
3. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned maintenance tasks in line with engineering and safety standards.
- Respond to and repair equipment breakdowns in a safe and timely manner.
- Complete remedial engineering works to plant, equipment, or site infrastructure as directed by the Engineering Manager.
- Proactively identify and report any safety risks or potential equipment failures.
4. Health and Safety
- Ensure all activities comply with Site Health and Safety instructions and Health and Safety Policy.
- Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses in line with company procedures.
- Use and maintain personal protective equipment and safety systems appropriately, in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Adhere to safe systems of work and best-practice procedures at all times.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across all work areas.
5. Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviour
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to quickly learn and use new IT systems, including CMMS software.
- Capable of building effective working relationships across all levels of the business.
- High attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach.
- Confident decision-maker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and responsive to business needs.
- Willingness to work unsocial hours, including permanent night shifts where applicable.
- Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. ONC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent).
- Competent in both electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
- Desirable knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and steam systems.
6. Shift Pattern, Operational Requirements
- Engineers work fixed night or day shifts, allowing for consistent sleep patterns, personal routines, and family commitments
- Average working week of 43.75 hours
- The shift pattern operates on 12-hour shifts plus a 30-minute daily handover
- Shift rotating basis 3-shifts week, followed by a 4-shift week, throughout the year
- Our shift patterns are designed specifically to improve work-life balance through stability and predictability, providing regular extended rest periods and a balanced distribution of working and non-working days across the year.
7. Remuneration
- £48,000 and £55,000 per annum + Overtime if desired , depending on experience and qualifications.
- Additional hours or days may be available by agreement to support projects or provide cover during periods of absence.
- 28 days holiday pa plus Bank Holidays
