As an IT Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining the school's IT systems, ensuring staff and students have seamless access to the technology they rely on every day. You'll support the IT Manager in managing networks, hardware, and software, as well as resolving day-to-day technical issues. This is a varied position ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, providing excellent customer service, and working with a wide range of technologies within education.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the maintenance and support of Windows Server environments (), Active Directory, Group Policy, and school networks.
- Support and maintain the school's LAN, wireless network, and Windows domain.
- Manage and support IT hardware including laptops, PCs, MS Surface devices, AV equipment, display screens, and printers.
- Configure, image, and deploy hardware using tools such as InTune.
- Maintain and troubleshoot network cabling and infrastructure, repairing and patching where necessary.
- Provide first-line technical support to staff and students, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Support the use of Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Office, and other cloud-based or educational software.
- Ensure systems remain secure and up to date, maintaining antivirus and OS updates via WSUS.
- Maintain accurate IT asset records and support the safe disposal of outdated equipment (WEEE).
Key Requirements
- Previous experience in an IT support or technician role, ideally within a school or educational environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and networking principles.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and InTune device management.
- Hands-on experience with hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- A relevant IT qualification or certification (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, ITIL) is desirable.
