Long Term Futures are working with a fantastic Referral Unit in Islington, N1, seeking a confident and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This role involves supporting pupils ranging from primary age through to Year 11, providing tailored assistance to those with behavioural needs.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and group support to pupils with behavioural needs, helping them stay focused and engaged in their learning
• Implement tailored behaviour management strategies in line with individual behaviour plans
• Work with teachers to create a safe and inclusive classroom environment
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students, acting as a role model
• Support students in managing emotions and developing coping strategies
• Assist pupils in transitioning between lessons and maintaining focus throughout the school day

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working with students with challenging behaviour, preferably in a Referral Unit or similar setting
• A calm, patient, and proactive approach
• Confidence in managing difficult situations and diffusing conflict
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• A commitment to helping students achieve their potential despite barriers
