What we do

This particular role is at our Bakkavor Meals site in Park Royal - West London. Split across 3 factories and 1 distribution centre. The factories make chilled ready meals, houmous dips, deli products & savoury accompaniments and employs over 2,000 people.

About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Engineering Teams Manager to join our expanding team and site.

The role reports to Engineering Manager and you will lead a team of Shift Engineers

Role Accountabilities
  • Comply with all Bakkavor statutory Safety, Health, and Environment requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely records are kept of all engineering work carried out on shift, root cause of failures are identified and measures are taken to prevent a re-occurrence
  • Ensure engineering downtime is minimised, accurately logged using the computerised maintenance system, monitor repair times.
  • Ensure operating and maintenance manuals, diagnostic instructions and special tools are readily available for the shift.
  • Provide engineering support to production to ensure efficient performance of all equipment. Liaise with Production management team to resolve problems quickly and improve performance.
  • Manage contractors and suppliers, audit their work, and ensure work permits are issued and that all work is carried out with no risk to the business. Liaise with suppliers and the Engineering Section Managers to ensure adequate spares and information are made available.
  • Manage, plan, prioritise and audit engineering activities daily and ensure accurate records are maintained for the end of each shift.
  • Provide hands on support to the engineering team and lead by example.
About you
  • Engineering apprenticeship (C&G / EAL NVQ Level 3/4 or OAL FDEM Diploma).
  • Current Edition of IET Wiring Regulations (C&G Level 3).
  • IOSH Managing Safely desirable
  • Application of SHE legislation and procedures.
  • Multi-skilled capability with electrical bias.
  • Fault finding: Electrical &/or Mechanical systems.
  • Planning works and writing reports.
  • Apply continuous improvement techniques and quantify asset, asset system and asset management activity-related risks; identify mitigation options.
  • CMMS experience.
  • Budgetary controls.
  • Hygienic engineering.
  • Safety, Health and Environmental awareness.
  • Mechanical principals, F&D assets, welding, machining, turning, hydraulic, pneumatic & thermodynamics systems and/or, electrical principals, safety & control circuits, motors, motor control circuits, motion control, encoders, PLCs, sensors.
  • Knowledge of spare parts management systems.
  • Risk management.
  • Management/ Supervisory experience.
