Surveyor

Help keep homes safe, compliant and well maintained across London and the South East. This mobile role is ideal for a technically skilled Surveyor with a background in housing repairs, maintenance or property surveying who enjoys variety and resident-focused work.

SALARY: Competitive Day Rate - dependent on experience and travel requirements

LOCATION: Ealing, West London (W5) - Mobile role working across various locations in London and the South East

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Contract (Ltd or Umbrella)

DURATION: 3-6 months initially, with potential to extend

KEY REQUIREMENT:A full clean UK driving licence and access to a car is essential as the role primarily covers the South London area, particularly the central and western regions

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Surveyor to join the Repairs & Maintenance team within a respected housing organisation.

As a Surveyor you will play a vital role in ensuring homes are safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard. You'll assess properties, diagnose issues such as damp and disrepair, and ensure that repair works are delivered efficiently and effectively.

The Surveyor will work closely with residents, contractors and internal teams to deliver high-quality, sustainable housing solutions that make a lasting difference to communities.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Surveyor include:

  • Conduct Property Inspections: Carry out regular surveys and assessments across the housing portfolio
  • Diagnose Issues: Identify damp, mould and disrepair cases, providing detailed technical reports
  • Plan Maintenance Work: Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and deliver repairs and planned works
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building codes, safety standards and housing regulations
  • Manage Budgets: Control costs using NHF Schedule of Rates (M3NHF) and monitor contractor performance
  • Support Residents: Engage with tenants to provide advice, handle complaints and ensure satisfaction
  • Prepare Specifications: Write tender documents and oversee procurement processes in line with policy
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks across cost, programme and health & safety

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

You'll have a strong technical background in surveying, construction or property maintenance, with an eye for detail and a resident-focused approach. You'll bring:

  • GCSEs (A -C) in Maths and English or equivalent
  • HNC, degree or equivalent in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction or a related field is desirable
  • Previous experience in housing regulations, building codes and safety standards
  • Strong knowledge and diagnostics of damp and mould, including experience with disrepair cases
  • Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and how they apply in housing
  • Knowledge of HHSRS and relevant legislation
  • Experience with NHF Schedule of Rates (M3NHF) for cost control
  • IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to produce clear technical reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with residents and stakeholders and resolve complaints effectively
  • A full clean UK driving licence and access to a car is essential
