The Role We're working with a leading engineering business that designs, installs, and maintains physical security systems across the UK. They're looking for a mechanically minded Field Service Engineer to join their team.Your time will be split between:
- Field service work - attending sites across London and the South East to install, service, and repair high-security systems (gates, barriers, blockers, turnstiles).
- Workshop fitting - supporting the Crawley workshop when field work is quieter, carrying out mechanical and electrical fitting/assembly tasks.
Electrical knowledge isn't essential, but if you can use a multi-meter to check voltages on motors or similar equipment, that's a strong advantage.
Please note: random drug and alcohol tests may be carried out on certain client sites.

What you'll be doing - Installing, servicing and repairing gates, barriers, blockers, and turnstiles
- Attending breakdowns and fault-finding/diagnostics
- Cutting induction loops into concrete/tarmac (training provided)
- Using mechanical skills daily - hands-on repairs and maintenance
- Completing electronic job sheets on tablet/smartphone
- Travelling across London and the South East (occasional overnight stays)
- Providing excellent customer service on-site
What we're looking for - Strong mechanical background (essential), ideally from one of the following:
- Agricultural machinery maintenance
- Conveyor systems or material handling equipment
- Plant fitting or heavy equipment repairs
- Shift fitting in a factory
- Site-based equipment such as wheel washes
- Basic electrical knowledge (advantageous) - motors, multi-meters, 24v/240v systems
- Full UK driving licence (clean preferred)
- Physically fit and comfortable with outdoor/manual work (including confined spaces)
- Willing to travel, stay away occasionally, and take part in an on-call rota
- Able to pass a safety-critical medical and face-fit test (must be clean-shaven for P3 mask use)
- British passport and no criminal convictions (security clearance required)
