The Royal College of Music (RCM) is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Operative (Mechanical) to join our Estates & Facilities team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the upkeep and development of our historic and vibrant campus, supporting a global community of musicians and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine checks and maintenance of mechanical systems, plumbing, lighting, and emergency systems.
- Supervise contractors and support the Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme.
- Carry out refurbishment and decoration projects, including electrical updates and general rewiring.
- Assist with Health & Safety audits and contribute to estates and facilities projects.
- Ensure statutory compliance and high standards of service delivery across RCM buildings.
Person SpecificationWe're looking for someone who:
- Is professionally qualified in a Mechanical discipline (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent).
- Has excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
- Has knowledge of building services and statutory regulations (e.g. COSHH, CDM, DDA).
- Is motivated, collaborative, and values diversity and inclusion.
Salary & Benefits- £34,350 - £37,968 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting)
- Shift allowance of £4,744 per annum
- 35 hours/week with a rotating shift pattern (early, late, and weekend shifts)
