JOB- Mechanical Design Engineer
LOCATION- Whitstable
TERM- Permanent
SALARY- 35,000 to 45,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Premier Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering company based in Whitstable. This role involves designing and developing mechanical components and systems for a variety of applications, working within a dynamic engineering team.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

• A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
• Knowledge of materials, machining, and fabrication processes
• Experience with designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Understanding of industry standards and regulations

The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

• Designing and developing mechanical components and assemblies
• Producing detailed 3D models, technical drawings, and BOMs
• Collaborating with production and engineering teams to optimize designs for manufacturing
• Conducting design analysis, calculations, and validation testing
• Troubleshooting design issues and implementing improvements
• Ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
• Supporting new product development initiatives
• Liaising with suppliers and customers regarding technical specifications
