Day-to-day of the role:
- Oversee the daily operations of the nursery kitchen, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals that meet the dietary needs of children, considering allergies and portion sizes.
- Manage food ordering and inventory to maintain optimal stock levels and reduce waste.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Train and supervise kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and high standards of food hygiene and safety.
- Collaborate with nursery management to develop menus that are both nutritious and appealing to children.
- Stay updated on the latest nutrition guidelines and food safety regulations relevant to childcare settings.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role as a Kitchen Manager or Head Chef.
- Previous experience in the Education sector, such as nurseries or schools, is essential.
- Strong knowledge of child nutrition, portion control, and dietary needs.
- Certified in allergy awareness and capable of implementing appropriate food safety measures.
- Eligibility to work full-time in the UK.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
