The Client
We are pleased to be resourcing a talented Group Financial Controller for our valued client, who specialise in Cat A / Cat B commercial office fit outs.

Duties:
1. Financial Reporting & Analysis
Consolidated Financial Statements: Prepare and analyse consolidated financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) for the entire group, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, UK GAAP).
Management Accounts: Produce timely and accurate monthly/quarterly management accounts for the group and individual subsidiaries, including key performance indicators (KPIs) such as gross profit margins, project profitability, and working capital.
Financial Forecasts & Budgets: Develop and maintain annual budgets and rolling forecasts for the group, including revenue, cost of sales, operating expenses, and cash flow.
Variance Analysis: Analyze budget vs. actual performance, identifying and investigating significant variances.
Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decisions, such as acquisitions, new product launches, and capital expenditure.
2. Financial Control & Risk Management
Internal Controls: Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Treasury Management: Manage cash flow, bank relationships, and foreign exchange risk.
Credit Control: Oversee the credit control function, ensuring timely collection of receivables and minimizing bad debt.
Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks, such as credit risk, foreign exchange risk, and project risk.
3. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations, including corporation tax, VAT, and payroll taxes.
Statutory Reporting: Prepare and file statutory accounts with relevant authorities (e.g., Companies House).
Audit Liaison: Liaise with external auditors, ensuring a smooth and efficient audit process.
4. Business Partnering & Support
Business Partnering: Provide financial and commercial support to the CEO, CFO, and other senior management team.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of the company's strategic plan.
Project Finance: Provide financial support to project managers, including cost control, cash flow forecasting, and contract profitability analysis.
Management Information Systems (MIS): Develop and maintain effective MIS systems to provide timely and relevant information to management.
5. People Management
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, including financial analysts and accountants.
Recruitment & Development: Recruit, train, and develop finance staff.
Key Qualifications & Experience
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
Strong understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS.
Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, ideally within the construction or related industry.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
Leadership and management experience.
This role requires a highly motivated and commercially-minded individual with strong leadership and analytical skills. The Group Financial Controller will play a crucial role in the success of the company by providing sound financial guidance and supporting the achievement of strategic objectives.
