Senior WordPress Developer - PHP - JavaScript - React

Predominately remote with occasional visits to London (circa 1 per day month)

Circa £90,000 benefits

A skilled Senior WordPress Developer is sought to join a development team working in a fast paced, high traffic environment.

Looking for strong WordPress and all-round engineering experience within enterprise level environments. Such as web architecture, custom RSS feeds, WordPress VIP and full stack web development including JavaScript and React.

Must be willing to complete a technical task to determine suitability.

Responsibilities / Skills

  • Develop and maintain features for a large-scale WordPress website
  • Contribute to shared WordPress plugins and microservices
  • Create and maintain custom Gutenberg blocks, API endpoints, and front-end components
  • Optimise performance across Core Web Vitals, response times, and query efficiency
  • Troubleshoot technical issues raised
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive scalable, maintainable codebases
  • Work autonomously, managing workload and priorities in a remote-friendly setting
  • Extensive hands-on WordPress development experience
  • Strong knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, React, and Gutenberg
  • Experience with custom blocks, RSS feeds, and JSON APIs
  • Solid understanding of front-end performance and web standards
  • Familiar with Git and version control principles
  • Experience working in Agile teams and using tools like JIRA
  • Excellent communication skills and self-management within a distributed team

Highly Desirable: Exposure to WordPress VIP and large-scale WordPress architecture

Experience integrating with AWS services (e.g. S3, Lambda, API Gateway)
