Risk Manager

Our client is looking for a proactive, analytical, and business-savvy Risk Manager to support key risk initiatives across the business and within their credit card function. This is a contract role designed to support both enterprise risk work (e.g. building a Risk Register) and day-to-day credit risk oversight.

This is a delivery-focused role for a self-starter with a background in retail financial services, who can work cross-functionally and communicate effectively at all levels, including the executive team.

This is a Hybrid role - 3 days a week office based in Central London

Responsibilities

• Lead the creation and implementation of first cross-functional Risk Register
• Engage with each business function to identify key risks, mitigations, and ownership
• Develop a board-level summary of the Top 10 strategic risks and proposed mitigation actions
• Present findings clearly and confidently to the board and leadership team
• Monitor and report on retail credit card risk exposure, delinquency, and usage metrics
• Identify trends in new customer behaviour: credit limits, utilisation, repayment habits
• Support the development of credit risk strategies to protect against high-risk exposure
• Flag early indicators of customers maxing out credit lines or signs of financial stress
• Collaborate with product, operations, and data teams to align credit risk controls with growth goals

Essential Skills & Experience Required

• Solid proven experience of managing enterprise risk within financial services
• Experience of retail credit risk management would be a distinct advantage but not essential.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; confident working with execs and boards

This is not a credit modelling role. The focus is on risk oversight - specifically, reviewing, monitoring, and reporting on credit data to ensure the client is not exposed to undue risk from new customers reaching or exceeding their credit limits.
