Apex resources are working with an industry leading construction firm who specialise in commercial fit out projects and need an Estimator to join on a permanent basis.
Overview
The client is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Estimator to join their small team and take a crucial role in project planning and execution. The Estimator will accurately assess project costs, prepare detailed estimates for commercial fit-out projects, attend site meetings, manage project costs throughout the project lifecycle, and handle final account negotiations. The ideal candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of the Fit-Out & construction industry, particularly in these sectors, and possess strong analytical and numerical skills.
Responsibilties
- Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and documents to grasp project scope and requirements.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial fit-out projects, including materials, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals and tender submissions meeting client requirements.
- Conduct market analysis to secure competitive pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements, provide cost breakdowns, and address queries.
- Identify project risks and opportunities, recommending mitigation or capitalization strategies.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotes, and correspondence for easy accessibility.
Experience/Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of Estimator experience in construction, focusing on commercial fit-outs.
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Relevant professional certifications such as RICS, CIOB are advantageous.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in estimating software/tools like CostX, Bluebeam, Stack, or similar.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to interpret construction drawings.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Effective time management and organizational abilities.
