Project Manager (Strategic Delivery)

Cancer Research internal job title is Delivery Manager. Maybe known as project manager in other organisations. (Note this is business PM role not an IT PM role)

(£45,000 - £50,000+ Benefits)

Grade: P3

Reports to: Senior Delivery Manager

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time 35 hours per week

Location: Stratford, London . Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

This is a high profile Project Manager role within our Strategic Delivery Team, leading complex projects across the Policy, Information and Communications (PIC) directorate and wider CRUK. You'll drive initiatives that improve how we work, building a more effective, collaborative and high performing organisation.

A key part of this role is leading the delivery of Cancer Research UK's Annual Report and Accounts, working closely with the Chief Executive, senior leaders and teams across the organisation to showcase our achievements and meet critical regulatory and financial reporting requirements.

What you'll be doing

You'll play a key role in delivering high impact projects across the PIC directorate and wider organisation, helping shape a more effective, collaborative and high performing CRUK.

Lead end-to-end project delivery across multiple initiatives, planning, tracking, reporting and removing blocker

  • Work with senior leaders to identify risks, manage dependencies and guide informed decision making
  • Shape clear project visions, objectives, roadmaps and governance alongside sponsors and stakeholders
  • Build and manage integrated delivery plans, ensuring resources and priorities are aligned
  • Drive effective communication across teams, keeping stakeholders informed and engaged at every stage
  • Lead and inspire cross functional teams, creating accountability and momentum
  • Support wider adoption of best practice project delivery across the directorate
  • Act as a trusted expert, providing guidance and support to teams delivering change initiatives

What you'll bring

You're highly organised, proactive and confident working in complex environments, with a passion for delivering meaningful outcomes.

  • Strong experience in project management and delivery (with knowledge of formal methodologies)
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with confidence working at senior levels
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with a track record of meeting tight deadlines
  • Experience delivering change, designing processes, embedding new ways of working and supporting adoption
  • Strong analytical thinking, able to break down complex problems and present clear solutions
  • A collaborative, influential approach, adapting your style to get the best from others
  • Experience working in matrix organisations and leading cross-functional teams

Internal Eligibility criteria

Internal candidates should ideally have completed their 6-month 'getting started' period before applying for other roles. You should also advise your current line manager at the point you make an internal application, or at the latest, at the point of being invited for an interview.

  • completed their getting started period
  • discussed their intention to apply and gained approval to apply with their line manager
  • been in their substantive (home) role for at least 6 months (this is only applicable if you have previously been on secondment)
