Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in the housing sector? A leading Housing Provider is seeking a Temporary Income Officer to join their Arrears Recovery Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support tenants, manage rent arrears, and contribute to the financial health of vital housing services.

Temporary Income Officer - (3-6 Month's)

Location: East LondonContract: TemporarySalary: CompetitiveHours: Full-time

Our client is keen to hire for this role quickly, so applicants will ideally be immediately available or on 1-2 week's notice (maximum), as well as willing to work from our client's East London head office 5 days a week, initially, and then flexibility of working 2/3 days home, once settled.

About the Role

As an Income Officer, you'll deliver a high-quality rent collection and arrears recovery service. You'll work closely with tenants, support teams, and local authorities to ensure income is maximised and arrears are minimised. This role demands strong communication, analytical thinking, and a compassionate approach to debt recovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain effective systems for debt collection and arrears management
  • Support current and former tenants in resolving rent arrears
  • Monitor rent accounts and Housing Benefit payments, addressing discrepancies swiftly
  • Liaise with local authorities and internal teams to ensure accurate rent account setup and maintenance
  • Initiate and manage legal proceedings when necessary, including attending court hearings
  • Maintain accurate records and generate clear reports using relevant IT systems

About You

We're looking for someone with:

  • Experience in rent services, income collection, or credit control
  • Proven ability to manage a busy caseload and meet targets
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and rent accounting systems (e.g. Pyramid)
  • Understanding of benefit legislation and housing law
  • A proactive, organised, and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable clients
