About the Role

Lead and innovate at the forefront of warehouse automation technology. As Engineering Manager, you'll spearhead the technical operations of our state-of-the-art automated distribution centre, leading a team of skilled engineers while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership

• Pioneer automation excellence by managing all aspects of our fully automated distribution centre
• Develop and execute long-term engineering strategies alongside the wider automation management team
• Build and maintain high-performance engineering teams through effective recruitment, development, and retention
• Drive continuous improvement through innovative solutions and process optimisation

Technical Excellence

• Oversee complex automated systems including AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robotics) technology
• Manage sophisticated software systems, server architecture, and networks
• Implement best-in-class maintenance strategies to maximise operational efficiency
• Lead preventative maintenance operations while minimising equipment downtime
• Ensure critical spares availability and maintain effective parts management

Stakeholder Management

• Build strong partnerships with depot teams, property teams, and senior technology stakeholders
• Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure exceptional service delivery
• Collaborate with peers to identify investment opportunities and implement improvements
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance facility performance

What You'll Bring

Essential Experience

• Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
• Proven track record in managing automated distribution or manufacturing facilities
• Experience with AMR and advanced automation systems
• Strong background in leading large, multi-skilled engineering teams
• Demonstrated success in strategic planning and implementation

Technical Skills

• Deep understanding of automation software systems and network architecture
• Expertise in maintenance planning and optimisation
• Proficiency with EAM systems and Office 365
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Leadership Qualities

• Outstanding team leadership and development skills
• Excellent stakeholder management abilities
• Strong commercial acumen and budget management experience
• Proven track record in driving operational excellence
