About the Role
Lead and innovate at the forefront of warehouse automation technology. As Engineering Manager, you'll spearhead the technical operations of our state-of-the-art automated distribution centre, leading a team of skilled engineers while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What You'll Do
Strategic Leadership
- Pioneer automation excellence by managing all aspects of our fully automated distribution centre
- Develop and execute long-term engineering strategies alongside the wider automation management team
- Build and maintain high-performance engineering teams through effective recruitment, development, and retention
- Drive continuous improvement through innovative solutions and process optimisation
Technical Excellence
- Oversee complex automated systems including AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robotics) technology
- Manage sophisticated software systems, server architecture, and networks
- Implement best-in-class maintenance strategies to maximise operational efficiency
- Lead preventative maintenance operations while minimising equipment downtime
- Ensure critical spares availability and maintain effective parts management
Stakeholder Management
- Build strong partnerships with depot teams, property teams, and senior technology stakeholders
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure exceptional service delivery
- Collaborate with peers to identify investment opportunities and implement improvements
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to enhance facility performance
What You'll Bring
Essential Experience
- Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
- Proven track record in managing automated distribution or manufacturing facilities
- Experience with AMR and advanced automation systems
- Strong background in leading large, multi-skilled engineering teams
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning and implementation
Technical Skills
- Deep understanding of automation software systems and network architecture
- Expertise in maintenance planning and optimisation
- Proficiency with EAM systems and Office 365
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Leadership Qualities
- Outstanding team leadership and development skills
- Excellent stakeholder management abilities
- Strong commercial acumen and budget management experience
