Environmental Health Officer

Sharper Consulting Services are working on behalf of our local authority client in Kent in their search of an Environmental Health Officer/Private Sector Housing Officer.

You will play an integral role in enforcement, grants, and energy efficiency initiatives across the borough.

Duties

• Investigate complaints, conduct HHSRS inspections, and enforce housing standards.
• License and regulate HMOs, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Deiver Disabed Facilities Grants (DFGs) and financial assistance to improve housing conditions.
• Work with landlords, tenants, and partners to tackle substandard housing and reduce empty homes.
• Take egal action where necessary, including serving notices and prosecuting non-compliance.
• Lead caravan site icensing and enforce minimum energy efficiency standards.
• Provide expert housing advice and contribute to policy development.

About You

• BSc/MSc in Environmental Health + HHSRS Certificate
• Experience in housing enforcement, HMO licensing, and grants processing
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage a busy caseload and work both independently & within a team
• Full UK driving license and willingness to work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours duties
