Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Pimlico (Start September)Supporting a Year 1 Child with Non-Verbal Autism

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive primary school in Pimlico, starting in September 2025.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil with non-verbal autism, helping them access the curriculum, develop communication and social skills, and thrive in the school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored support throughout the school day in a nurturing and structured manner.

• Use visual aids, alternative communication methods (such as PECS or Makaton), and sensory strategies.

• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver an individualised plan.

• Foster a positive, calm, and safe learning atmosphere.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working with children with autism, particularly non-verbal.

• A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach.

• Knowledge of SEN strategies and a passion for inclusive education.

• Experience with PECS, Makaton, or similar communication tools is highly desirable.
