A pivotal role immediately available for an experienced candidate.

A temporary Information Compliance Officer assisting the Information Compliance team to co-ordinate the University's responses to statutory information requests under the Freedom of Information Act (2000). This will involve managing assigned FOI caseload from receipt to response. The FOI Case Administrator will be expected to provide advice internally and to the requester, log requests, task requests to internal colleagues, collate information returned and prepare responses within legal deadlines, ensuring that responses comply with legal requirements, University policies and good practice.

This role will support the Information Compliance Officer and wider team in managing the assigned FOI caseload effectively, subject to exemptions or other legal limitations. The role will involve progressing multiple cases in tandem. The post-holder will ensure that all actions and advice in dealing with requests and enquiries are fully recorded and documented.

Person specification - Essential

  • Knowledge of information access and privacy legislation and regulation including the Freedom of Information Act (2000), the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act (2018)
  • Experience of handling requests and enquiries on FOIA, DPA and UK GDPR in a similar role
  • Ability to write and communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally with an excellent standard of written and grammatical English
  • Excellent desktop IT skills
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and respond to enquiries and requests for information clearly, accurately, and professionally
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Conscientious and positive attitude, with a helpful and friendly approach
  • Ability to progress multiple tasks to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Commitment to team working
  • Methodical and highly organised approach to work
  • Tactful and sympathetic approach, preserving confidentiality at all times

Desirable

  • Experience of working in higher education
  • Relevant qualification in information management or information compliance
