Primary Teaching Assistant

• Annual Salary: £95 - £110 per day, depending on experience

We are seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary school, specifically within the SEND centre. This role focuses on supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It's an ideal position for someone passionate about making a difference in children's lives through education and support.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Provide tailored support to children with SEMH within a mainstream primary setting.
• Work closely with the SEND coordinator and classroom teachers to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
• Assist in the development and implementation of behavioural management strategies.
• Support children in both one-to-one and group settings, ensuring their educational and emotional needs are met.
• Monitor and record children's progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
• Create a safe, positive, and stimulating environment that fosters learning and development.
• Participate in training and development sessions to enhance your understanding of SEMH and other SEND areas.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, particularly within SEND, focusing on SEMH.
• Strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with SEMH.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A compassionate and patient approach to dealing with children with special educational needs.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
