SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)

Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only, 1 year fixed term through agency
Salary: Dependent on experience (based on Local Authority support staff pay scales) initially 88.56 - 99 per day
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking to appoint a
compassionate and committed Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to provide
1:1 support for a child with additional needs. This full-time role will begin in
September 2025 and is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in a child's educational journey.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to support the child's learning, emotional wellbeing and independence in a mainstream classroom setting. The school is looking for someone who is patient, adaptable and able to build a strong, trusting relationship with the child.
Key responsibilities include:- Providing consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child's individual needs
- Assisting with learning activities in the classroom and during interventions
- Supporting the development of communication, social and emotional skills
- Implementing strategies outlined in the child's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
- Working collaboratively with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure holistic support
The ideal candidate will:- Have experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 capacity (desirable but not essential)
- Be caring, patient and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Be proactive, resilient and able to use their initiative
- Be committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
