DevOps Engineer - SC Cleared

DevOps Engineer Outside IR months Active SC Helm OpenShift Terraform Platform Tooling SR2 is working with a long-standing delivery partner on the major public sector project, supporting modern DevOps enablement across platform and product teams.We're looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer with strong Kubernetes experience to join a specialist platform engineering function. This team acts as an enabler - helping application teams adopt DevOps best practices via reusable tooling, scalable platforms, and robust CI/CD.This is a 12-month contract, Outside IR35, and offers a chance to shape the DevOps culture of a critical Defence programme. Due to the quick turn around for this role, the client requires all applicants to currently have active SC clearance; unfortunately they cannot put you through this if you do not already have it. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, improve, and maintain platform engineering tools and services for application teams
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines, containerised environments, and deployment workflows
• Support product teams in taking ownership of their services across the entire SDLC
• Contribute to standards, common tooling, and DevOps best practice across the DNA programme
• Work independently and confidently engage with stakeholders on requirements, feasibility, and improvements

Essential Skills / Experience:

• Kubernetes (3+ years), Helm, and strong containerisation knowledge
• CI/CD tooling and pipeline automation.
• Linux, Bash, and Infrastructure-as-Code experience
• Comfortable working across small teams with autonomy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Skills:

• OpenShift, Terraform, Ansible, or other HashiCorp tools
• Familiarity with observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk)
• Experience working with containerised services such as Postgres, Redis, Kafka, or Keycloak
• Previous experience with MOD delivery environments or YAML-based pipelines

The Details:

• Contract: 12 months
• Outside IR35
• Rate: up to £480
• Location: Remote with 1-2 days required on a fortnightly basis.
• Clearance: Active SC required
