The Role Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking a
Social Worker to join the
Family Support & Protection Team.Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of approximately 12 children and young people requiring long-term social work intervention.
- Working with children subject to child protection plans, complex child in need cases, and Pre-Proceedings/PLO cases.
- Acting as the duty worker, responding to queries and issues across the team's caseload.
- Preparing reports, statements, and care plans for Family, County, and High Courts.
- Conducting thorough assessments and analyses to produce clear, evidence-based action plans.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with children and families to improve outcomes.
- Engaging in structured supervision, professional development, and team-led initiatives.
Hybrid working is available, with a requirement to be on-site at the Civic Centre at least
2 days per week.Person Specification Applicants must:
- Hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
- Have completed their ASYE.
- Possess experience in Children's Frontline Services, including child protection, looked after children, and child in need practice.
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of Restorative Practice in social work.
- Have a sound understanding of relevant legislation, guidance, and policy frameworks.
- Hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
