Senior / Associate Surveyor - Fire Safety

The role and responsibilities:
As a Senior/Associate Building Surveyor working in the field of Fire Safety, you will lead and deliver a broad range of fire safety surveying services such along with managing complex projects and maintaining strong client relationships. You'll also support junior members of the team with their ongoing development.
- Undertaking a variety of Fire Safety Surveying services such as Compartmentation Surveys, Fire Door Inspections etc, ensuring they're delivered on time and to the required standards.
- Undertaking surveys of external wall systems and producing PAS 9980 FRAEW appraisals.
- Reviewing of Fire Strategies and reporting to clients.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential clients, providing professional advice and identifying new business opportunities.
- Assisting the wider Building Surveying team with regards to general Building Surveying duties, providing advice and guidance on building surveys, condition reports, party wall matters, defects and other related areas.
- Sharing knowledge with the wider practice and mentoring junior members of the team.
What you'll need:
Qualifications
- BSc or MSc in Building Surveying
- MRICS / AIFireE or other appropriate further qualification or significant progress towards qualification
- Must have full UK driving licence and access to transport
Knowledge:
- A comprehensive understanding of fire safety design, building construction and relevant legislation
- Experience of Pre-contract matters and the ability to take a project through its lifecycle
- Familiarity with standard forms of contract including the JCT suite
Skills:
- FRAEW experience, ideally having completed the RICS External Wall Assessment and able to sign EWS1
- Fire Door Inspection training - DipFD or Equivalent
- Passive Fire Protection training - ASFP or Equivalent
- Good communication and people skills with the ability to produce good quality written reports
- Mentoring skills to help develop more junior staff
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
- A full and detailed working knowledge of the most widely used forms of building contract
