Senior Electronics Engineer - Purpose of the Role
The purpose of the role is to create, maintain and release high-quality hardware and firmware to schedule, by Company standards.
Senior Electronics Engineer - Key Responsibilities:
- The purpose of the role is the design, simulation, debugging, testing and maintenance of microprocessor-based electronic sub-systems comprising programmable logic devices, communications interfaces and related support devices.
- This will be undertaken alongside other technical activities while working with hardware, software, mechanical and PCB engineers to deliver specific project goals derived from future product requirements.
- Responsibilities will include the identification and selection of suitable devices, design of digital sub-systems, liaising with the PCB designer and developing firmware.
- A key element of the role will be the delivery of hardware and firmware within agreed timescales and to budget
- The right candidate will be capable of designing and delivering designs with test and manufacture in mind.
- Demonstration of competence in using schematic entry tools and the VHDL hardware description language.
Outline of Competencies:
- Experience in developing hardware and firmware through the entire lifecycle.
- Ability to work independently without the need for close supervision.
- Ability to analyse processes or tools to propose improvements where applicable.

Qualifications and Experience required:
- Team working ability and drive to deliver on time
- Experience in digital sub-system design
- Experience of embedded processors and programmable logic devices
- Experience of interfacing with hardware devices and peripherals
- Familiarity with VHDL and its development tools
- Familiarity with firmware simulation tools
- Behavioural: self-starting, adaptable, problem solving
Desirable:
- An understanding of design for test and manufacture
- Knowledge of issue-tracking tools, such as Jira.
- Knowledge of releasing software to Production
- Some knowledge of analogue and digital audio
- An appreciation of interfacing with embedded software
