Our client is seeking a hands-on facilities assistant to join their team initially on a temporary basis with the view to the role becoming permanent for the right candidate.
You will require an enhanced DBS on the update service for this position.
The role will involve provision of maintenance, repair, and facilities related services, working alongside contracted Site Services Staff when required, assisting with allocated tasks and ensuring that allocated tasks are completed to a high standard and to provide cover for the Facilities Manager as required.
Duties will include:
- To be the single point of contact for all requests for repairs, faults and other maintenance requests from staff ensuring that all faults and requests are logged on the helpdesk system.
- To provide the first line response to repairs requests covering non-plant equipment, fabric, plumbing, carpentry and decorative repairs.
- To manage and complete the maintenance tasks logged on the helpdesk system, logging and reporting on work completed on the system and referring work outside personal competence back to the Facilities Manager.
- To liaise with the contracted Building Services Engineer when on site
- To be familiar with the operation of the site Fire and Security Systems and Equipment and be able to instruct others.
- To maintain key inventories and stock and repair/change locks where necessary.
- To undertake room, inventory and general area condition checks and inspections as directed.
- To ensure that all maintenance equipment, tools and consumable supplies are controlled and kept in appropriate condition and stock levels.
- To support the wider Facilities Management team by leading on, liaison with and monitoring of Contractors on site.
- To undertake weekly inspections of the roofs, basements and the fabric maintenance of the building and to report defects to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist contracted Site Services Staff undertaking set up and porterage duties when required.
- Support security contractors in monitoring entrance barrier, patrolling buildings and implementing visible ID policy when required.
- Assist with accidents and emergencies that may affect the building, grounds or the staff, students and visitors using its facilities.
- Provide cover at the other sites for the Facilities Manager, by arrangement.
- Attend out of hours emergencies as directed by the Facilities Management Team.
- Undertake health and safety responsibilities as specified in the Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, and take action to ensure a safe environment.
