This role is a part of our Audience & Personalisation team and will play a crucial part in delivering strategic initiatives focusing on helping brand and editorial teams craft intelligent segmentation and personalised journeys to enhance customer experience and engagement.
Your role: We are looking for a proactive and skilled Audience Data Manager to join our innovative Data team in London, UK. In this key position, you will be a guardian of our audience data, responsible for its accuracy and accessibility to drive our CRM and newsletter initiatives. This role is central to our audience segmentation and personalisation efforts, leveraging a Customer Data Platform (CDP).
As a crucial part of our team, you will not only be responsible for building on established processes but also for introducing new efficiencies and innovations. Your work will directly maximize the value of News UK's data platforms and empower our teams to make data-driven decisions that enhance customer engagement and business growth. You will be a hands-on contributor, a strategic thinker, and a collaborative partner to stakeholders across the organization, helping to translate complex data into tangible business outcomes.
Day to day you will: Own and manage the flow of audience data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and accessibility for various brand communication needs.
- CDP Expertise: Take the lead on our Customer Data Platform (CDP) functionality, focusing on building complex audience segments, managing user data, tracking usage limits, and proactively resolving any data-related alerts or issues. This includes ensuring data hygiene and governance within the CDP.
- SQL Proficiency: Utilise your strong SQL skills to access and interrogate our databases, extracting meaningful insights and ensuring data integrity for segmentation and communications.
- CRM & Newsletter Enablement: Oversee the data flow for CRM and newsletter sends, including managing APIs and ensuring all necessary data is correctly captured across all environments and brands (e.g., internal comms, events, The Sun UK, Scottish Sun, Irish Sun, The Sun US, The Times). You will also manage sign-up processes for all newsletters, ensuring workflows are seamless and efficient.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Serve as a key liaison, working closely with stakeholders across editorial, marketing, and campaign teams. You will offer guidance on data permissions, customer data flow for marketing queries, and segmentation for CRM campaigns.
- Innovation & Improvement: Drive new data initiatives and actively seek opportunities to streamline processes. Champion a culture of data-driven development and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Performance & Impact: Contribute to generating tangible value from our audience data, directly impacting time savings for brand teams and providing essential data expertise across the organisation.
What we're looking for from you: - Data Management Experience: Proven experience in a product or data management role, ideally with a strong focus on audience data, customer-centric solutions, and segmentation.
- Audience Data Expertise: Demonstrated experience in managing and utilizing audience data for marketing and communication purposes, including familiarity with CDPs and data segmentation.
- Analytical Acumen & SQL: Strong analytical skills with the ability to derive meaningful insights from data, coupled with essential proficiency in SQL and data interrogation.
- Technical Understanding: A good understanding of data analysis, insight, and visualization. Experience working closely with data science and machine learning teams is highly valued.
- Communication & Influence: Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills. The ability to articulate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making is crucial.
- Problem-Solving & Innovation: A creative and innovative mindset, with the ability to identify and deliver solutions that meet business objectives and customer needs, even under tight timescales.
- Collaboration: A highly collaborative approach, comfortable working with diverse cross-functional teams including platform managers, data engineers, personalisation managers, editorial teams and CRM managers.
