School Caretaker

School Caretaker - East London East London £17-£21 per hour (depending on experience) Full-time, Long-term / Temp to Perm opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and reliable School Caretaker to join a thriving primary school in East London. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the safety, security, and smooth day-to-day operation of the school site.

Key Responsibilities:

• Opening and closing the school premises daily
• Carrying out basic maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks
• Conducting regular health & safety and compliance checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, legionella, etc.)
• Monitoring contractors and ensuring site compliance
• Supporting cleaning, groundskeeping, and general upkeep of school facilities
• Responding to on-site emergencies and ensuring a safe environment for pupils and staff

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Officer, or Premises Assistant (school experience preferred)
• Strong understanding of health & safety regulations
• Ability to carry out minor maintenance and repairs independently
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• A proactive, reliable, and hands-on attitude
