Role Overview:
Our client, a leading Tier 1 main contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a large Infrastructure project. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing a substantial groundworks package and contributing to the successful delivery of this flagship project, which will deliver essential infrastructure for the Meridian Water development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee a significant groundworks package, ensuring all works are completed to the highest standards and within budget.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide cost management services, including the preparation of detailed cost estimates, valuations, and financial reports.
- Monitor project progress and cost performance, identifying potential risks and opportunities for cost savings.
- Ensure accurate forecasting and budget management, reporting to senior management and clients.
- Liaise with other departments and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with the site team and other departments to ensure efficient resource allocation and project scheduling.
- Mentor and support junior staff, ensuring they develop their skills and experience.
Experience & Skills Required:
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally with a background in main contracting, civil engineering, highways, structures, or utilities.
- Demonstrable experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects, including groundworks packages.
- Strong understanding of cost management, contract administration, and financial reporting.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage and prioritise a high workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant cost management software.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Chartered status (MRICS or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.
