Human Resources Administrator - 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to potentially extend

Hours: Part-time, Monday to Friday, 09:00-15:00, with some flexibility available

Location: Milton Keynes office

Salary - Pro-rata £30,000 - £32,000 pa

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced HR Administrator to join our client on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing maternity cover within a busy HR function. This is a part-time role offering the opportunity to support a wide range of HR administration across the full employee lifecycle.

You will play an important role in keeping HR processes running smoothly, maintaining accurate employee records, supporting managers and employees with routine HR queries, and ensuring documentation and systems are kept up to date. This role would suit someone with previous HR administration experience who is organised, professional and confident using their employment law knowledge in a practical HR environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide HR administration support across the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employment changes, payroll updates and leavers.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems, ensuring information is handled confidentially and in line with data protection requirements.
• Prepare HR documentation, including offer letters, contracts, amendments, letters and forms, using approved templates and processes.
• Coordinate onboarding activity, pre-employment checks, induction arrangements and new starter documentation.
• Support payroll and benefits administration by collating, checking and submitting accurate employee information within agreed deadlines.
• Monitor the HR inbox, respond to routine enquiries and escalate complex, sensitive or advisory matters where appropriate.
• Support absence, annual leave, training, wellbeing and employee relations administration, including meeting coordination and note-taking when required.
• Produce routine HR reports and support HR projects, audits, policy updates and continuous improvement activity.
• Build positive working relationships with employees, line managers, external providers and other key stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for someone with previous experience in an HR Administrator, HR Assistant or similar HR support role. You will be comfortable working with confidential information, able to prioritise effectively and confident providing a professional HR service to employees and managers.

• Previous HR administration or HR assistant experience is essential.
• A sound understanding of HR processes and confidence applying employment law knowledge in a practical HR administration environment is essential.
• A CIPD Level 3 or CIPD Level 5 qualification, or current study towards either level, would be advantageous.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience maintaining confidential employee information and handling sensitive data appropriately.
• Confident user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively in a busy environment.
• A proactive, flexible and collaborative approach.
• Experience using HR systems and databases would be advantageous.

This is a part-time HR role covering a maternity leave, offering the chance to contribute across a broad range of people processes during a 12-month fixed-term contract. There may be an opportunity for the contract to extend, depending on business requirements.
