Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Chef/Cook to join our Early Years Nursery Team located in Belvedere. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preparing and cooking fresh nutritional food and snacks for babies to 5 yr olds, approximately 50 per day. You will have a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality to local authority inspection standard.
Duties
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications.
Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that all food preparation meets safety and hygiene standards.
Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
In between cooking you will be responsible for cleaning up after and before meals with some cleaning in between cooking when required also monitoring and recording in writing temperatures of fridges,freezers and high-risk foods at time of cooking on a daily basis.
Monitor inventory levels of food supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure availability.
Collaborate with nursery manager to ensure seamless service during busy periods.
Stay updated on food safety regulations and best practices, implementing them within the kitchen on a daily basis.
To promote nutrition and healthy eating to the children.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Chef/Cook within a nursery school or catering environment, cooking for young children.
Experience in food preparation techniques and presentation.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene.
Ability to work effectively on your own while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
A passion for cooking and creativity in developing new dishes.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and children.
