A nurturing and inclusive secondary PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) school in Greenwich is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join their experienced team.

This is a fulfilling role for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with severe learning difficulties, physical disabilities, non-verbal communication, and personal care needs. The school provides a highly specialised environment tailored to students aged 11-19 with profound and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and group support for students with complex learning, medical and communication needs

  • Assist with personal care (toileting, changing, feeding) and mobility support (hoisting, wheelchair assistance)

  • Support delivery of life skills, sensory learning, and independence-focused activities

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and contribute to a calm, positive learning environment

  • Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to ensure individualised care and support plans are followed

Requirements:
  • Experience working with children or young adults with PMLD, complex needs or physical disabilities

  • Comfortable providing personal and physical care as part of daily duties

  • Training in manual handling and/or hoisting is highly desirable (or willingness to be trained)

  • Empathetic, resilient, and patient approach to working with vulnerable students

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
