Senior Research Fellow (Legal Charity)

Salary: £45,665

Location: can be remote within England under flexible working policy

Civitas Charity Recruitment are working with an independent national legal charity seeking a Senior Research Fellow to join its highly respected and impactful research team. The organisation works to ensure that individuals facing disadvantage can hold power to account and access justice. Its work spans legal research, policy, litigation, and training, with a focus on improving public decision-making and achieving fairness in society.

This role offers the chance to shape and lead high-quality research that supports access to justice and influences administrative law reform. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced colleagues and contribute to a shared vision of a fairer, more inclusive society. The position requires a combination of empirical research expertise, strategic thinking, and an ability to translate findings into action

Who we are looking for

We're looking for someone who has a strong grasp of public and administrative law and understands the barriers to justice many people face. You'll have a solid track record of designing and delivering impactful empirical research and be comfortable communicating your work to a variety of audiences. If you have experience developing research-informed policy, working with external partners, and contributing to funding bids, you'll feel right at home. A commitment to equity, expertise, collaboration, and courage will be essential. Lived experience or previous work with marginalised communities would be an asset

This is a permanent role based in London, with flexible working options available. It can be full-time or part-time, with a minimum of 28 hours per week. The salary is £45,669 per annum and includes eligibility for a cost-of-living uplift. Benefits include a 10% employer pension contribution after one year, 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), and flexible working arrangements from day one.
