ASD Learning Support Assistant

Location: Merton, London

Contract: Monday to Friday, Term Time Only

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Nurture Education is looking for a compassionate and dedicated ASD Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a primary school in Merton.

The successful candidate will work one-to-one and in small groups, providing tailored support to help pupils develop communication, social, and learning skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting pupils with ASD in accessing the curriculum and engaging positively in lessons.
• Implementing structured routines and individual learning plans.
• Encouraging communication, independence, and confidence.
• Using strategies such as visual supports, social stories, and sensory tools to aid learning.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to ensure consistent support.

• Empathetic, patient, and committed to supporting children with autism.
• Experience working with pupils with ASD or SEN (school or care setting desirable).
• Good understanding of strategies to support communication and sensory needs.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable, flexible, and motivated to help children achieve their full potential.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems.
• Training in behaviour management or autism awareness.
