We re working exclusively in partnership with a long-established, market-leading software company that delivers innovative digital solutions to specialist sectors supporting infrastructure, logistics, and heavy industry across the UK. With a strong and loyal customer base, a robust legacy codebase, and an ambitious roadmap ahead, this is a pivotal moment in their evolution.

As part of their Senior Leadership Team, they re hiring a Development Director to lead their Developer QA and DevOps teams, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

You ll oversee the full software development lifecycle, leading multiple teams responsible for delivering high-quality, scalable applications using modern tech stacks alongside a programme of legacy modernisation. With a focus on Agile delivery, automated testing, and continuous improvement, you ll steer cross-functional collaboration across product, infrastructure, and commercial functions. This will deliver a roadmap including 3rd party integrations, architecture evolution, strategic re-writes, and enhanced deployment automation.

You ll also play a central role in the wider business strategy, bringing technical insight and commercial awareness to board-level conversations.

As the Development Director, your skills and experience will include:

• Proven leadership of software development functions, ideally within a B2B or product-focused environment
• Experience managing and scaling Agile teams across Development, QA, and DevOps
• Deep knowledge of the full SDLC, automated testing strategies, and release management
• Technical proficiency with C# and the .NET framework; React and Jira knowledge would be advantageous
• The ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with hands-on leadership and delivery oversight
• A pragmatic, collaborative style and the ability to represent R&D credibly at board level
