My client is a sucessful haulage buiness who are now looking to recruit a Night Shift Transport Suppervisor.
The Night Transport Supervisor will oversee efficient and cost-effective transport operations for the delivery networks, ensuring that all hygiene, quality, and performance standards are consistently met while promoting and maintaining safe working practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational:
- Plan and schedule vehicle routes and driver assignments to optimize cost-effectiveness while meeting operational deadlines.
- Communicate clear and timely operational updates to drivers.
- Input and update data accurately within the Traffic Management System, ensuring all required fields are complete.
- Monitor and track the location of trailers and trucks effectively.
- Verify driver paperwork for accuracy and ensure it is appropriately forwarded to relevant departments.
- Continuously evaluate operations to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
- Manage drivers on a day-to-day basis, maintaining oversight of performance and conduct.
- Provide training and skill development opportunities to meet operational needs and enhance team efficiency.
- Foster a motivated and enthusiastic team environment.
- Offer out-of-hours support to drivers and team members when required.
- Operate relevant systems, including Palletways and UPN portals.
- Ensure adherence to all company internal processes and procedures.
- Hold and maintain valid counterbalane forklift and scissor lift licenses.
Compliance / Legislative:
- Ensure vehicles are not overloaded and comply with weight regulations.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety legislation, including SWP, Risk Assessments, Near Miss reporting, and LOLER/RIDDOR regulations.
- Maintain compliance with all aspects of fleet regulations.
Measurement / Reporting:
- Prepare and submit operational activity reports as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in IT, including Excel and Word.
- Strong self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
- Team-oriented with the capability to inspire confidence and drive in others.
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and drivers.
- Flexibility and adaptability to manage and respond to unexpected challenges.
Credentials, Qualifications, and Experience:
- General transport operations knowledge.
- Advanced PC literacy, including familiarity with network portals, alongside the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.
Working hours: Full-time, Monday Friday 9pm 7am
Schedule:
• 10 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
