Senior Construction Planner
LONDON

Duties will include

  • Project Planning & Scheduling:
  • Develop comprehensive construction schedules using specialised planning software, including activity breakdown structures, critical path analysis, and resource allocation.
  • Regularly update and maintain project schedules based on progress reports and field conditions.
  • Identify and manage critical milestones and dependencies within the project timeline.
  • Stakeholder Management:
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients to gather input and ensure alignment with the project plan.
  • Communicate project progress, potential issues, and schedule updates to key stakeholders effectively.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation:
  • Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize schedule disruptions and cost overruns.
  • Monitor and report on identified risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Analyze progress data from field reports and identify areas of concern or potential delays.
  • Generate detailed progress reports for project management and client review, including forecasts and corrective action plans.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, new planning tools, and construction methodologies.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex planning issues and propose solutions to optimize project schedules.
  • Team Leadership:
  • May lead a team of junior planners, providing mentorship and training on planning procedures.
    Required Skills and Qualifications:
    • Strong Planning Skills:
      Expertise in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and advanced understanding of construction planning principles.
    • Technical Knowledge:
      Thorough knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and potential constraints across different project types.
    • Analytical Skills:
      Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions based on project progress.
    • Communication Skills:
      Excellent written and verbal communication to effectively convey complex planning information to diverse stakeholders.
    • Leadership Abilities:
      Ability to guide and mentor junior staff on planning practices.

    Relevant Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction planning roles, with a proven track record managing complex projects across various phases.
    • Experience in a variety of construction sectors (e.g., commercial, residential, industrial) is beneficial.
