Duties will include
- Project Planning & Scheduling:
- Develop comprehensive construction schedules using specialised planning software, including activity breakdown structures, critical path analysis, and resource allocation.
- Regularly update and maintain project schedules based on progress reports and field conditions.
- Identify and manage critical milestones and dependencies within the project timeline.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients to gather input and ensure alignment with the project plan.
- Communicate project progress, potential issues, and schedule updates to key stakeholders effectively.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation:
- Proactively identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize schedule disruptions and cost overruns.
- Monitor and report on identified risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
- Analyze progress data from field reports and identify areas of concern or potential delays.
- Generate detailed progress reports for project management and client review, including forecasts and corrective action plans.
- Technical Expertise:
- Stay updated on industry best practices, new planning tools, and construction methodologies.
- Provide technical guidance on complex planning issues and propose solutions to optimize project schedules.
- Team Leadership:
- May lead a team of junior planners, providing mentorship and training on planning procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:- Strong Planning Skills:
Expertise in project scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and advanced understanding of construction planning principles. - Technical Knowledge:
Thorough knowledge of construction processes, sequencing, and potential constraints across different project types. - Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions based on project progress. - Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication to effectively convey complex planning information to diverse stakeholders. - Leadership Abilities:
Ability to guide and mentor junior staff on planning practices.
Relevant Experience:- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction planning roles, with a proven track record managing complex projects across various phases.
- Experience in a variety of construction sectors (e.g., commercial, residential, industrial) is beneficial.
